Strength for
everyday life.
Sturdy is a growing collection of free strength-training resources for older adults and the people supporting them.

Why we’re here
Starting can be confusing. An exercise video here, a scientific headline there, and a lot of advice in between. Sturdy brings selected resources together, explains what they cover, and gives you a clear place to begin.
Our weekly starting guide connects an original complete routine, exercise demonstrations, and learning resources. You can follow the sequence or explore the library on its own. Older adults lead their own journey. Family members are welcome to share a resource or learn alongside them.
How we choose resources
We look for understandable instruction, an identifiable source, relevant experience, and a clear explanation of the equipment and context. We link to original creators and primary research, and distinguish creator perspectives from evidence guides.
The initial exercise introductions draw on public NHS guidance. Science guides link to the research they discuss. Each resource names its sources so you can explore them yourself.
Contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0.
An honest first edition
Sturdy is at an early stage. The exercise collection introduces movements; it is not a personalized training program. Our eight-week starting guide is an editorial companion to independent source material. It has not been clinically tested or professionally reviewed as a Sturdy training program. Other program themes are clearly marked as in development.
Some people need individual instruction or professional advice. Source guidance remains part of understanding whether a resource is relevant to you.
Free to explore
All current resources are free. Signing up for updates is optional. There are no paid placements or affiliate commissions in this first edition. Any future commercial relationships will be labelled.
About the images and videos
Sturdy is a small, free project, and I’m building it with limited time and money. That meant a choice: leave pages without pictures, or make the most of what I could create and find. I chose to show you something.
So the lifestyle photos you see here are AI-generated illustrations of everyday settings. They aren’t real people, and they aren’t meant to show how to do an exercise or what results to expect. The exercise demonstrations come from their original sources and are credited to them, and creator videos play on the creator’s own platform.
If you have photos or videos you’d be happy to share, I’d love to hear from you. Real people moving in real homes would make Sturdy better for everyone. Email hello@sturdy.6farer.com.
