Different activities practise different things
Strength training develops your ability to work against resistance. Balance practice challenges your ability to remain steady. Walking, strength and balance activities can all have a place in an active life; one resource does not need to do every job.
What the falls research found
A 2019 Cochrane review found that exercise programs reduced the rate of falls in older people living in the community. The clearest support was for balance and functional exercises. Programs combining several types of exercise, commonly including resistance training, probably helped too.
The authors could not establish the effect of resistance training alone on falls. It would therefore be misleading to apply the review's overall result to lifting weights alone—or to Sturdy.
Choose support that fits your situation
If you have fallen, feel unsteady or need help moving around, ask a qualified professional about appropriate activities and support. A demonstration page cannot assess why you are unsteady or provide an individual falls-prevention program.
